I am Second day 1

Today was a wonderful day! All five teams split up and evangelized to many different people. We had our first I am Second meeting and first meeting with the children. The Lord blessed us with cloud coverage. Thank you again for the prayers and support.

Valley Mission Trip - testimony from Juli Mendoza

During my Mission Trip to the Rio Grande Valley, we visited The Colonias, the most poverty stricken community in the U.S. during this drive we passed by many homes that were barely standing and families just trying to get by, severely lacking basic needs.

It made me think about how there is a fine line between despair and hope, and how the missions can make such a difference in these families' lives. Not just meeting their physical needs of food, clothing or improved shelter, but giving them hope that someone cares; God cares.

During my own childhood, my family relied on welfare and social services for food and other needs. I remember being so grateful for those visits, a bag of groceries, a kind word and it gave us hope that maybe our lives wouldn't always be so hard. When you go without so many things as a child, it makes it challenging to have confidence in yourself and believe that things can be different.

With God at work in one person's life is amazing, with God at work in a collective group of believers is truly a miracle. Like watching God leading an orchestra of compassion, love and hope for a future, truly saved by Him.

Sunday- Peru

Today was a good day. We met people at a church called "La Roca" and met our translators the nationals and the churches each group will be going to. Again, thank you for all the prayers and support, it's amazing to think about everything that God can do this week!

Valley Mission Trip - visiting houses from the 86:12 trip

This morning we had the opportunity to visit the houses built on VRBC's 86:12 trip four years ago! We got to visit with one of the families, and showed them pictures we had taken with them four years ago. Timothy led us in a prayer with them. It was great to see that the ministry we did is still continuing to bless these families and this community!

Rio Grande Valley Trip, Saturday

Thank you for praying for VRBC's teams who are in Peru, the Rio Grande Valley and the Holy Land this week! Check back here for updates, pictures and prayer requests.

Today our group of 29 arrived in McAllen and got to work. We toured the Rio Grande Children's Home, where Buckner cares for children removed from their home by CPS until they can be placed with a foster or adoptive family. On that campus we are working on a prayer garden, and tomorrow we will also begin work on a community garden (food) that is tended by the children who live there.

We are also building and painting beds for families within Buckner's ministry in the Colonias, the poorest areas outside of McAllen.  We are excited to have the opportunity to deliver these beds to families selected by Buckner on Monday afternoon.

Pray for us as we go to Peru

Here is the Peru team ready to go on the plane and get to Lima!! Thank you so much for all your prayers and support! God is good!
